Steelers sign Retkofsky & Galloway
The Steelers placed 2 players on the reserve list today. Long snapper Greg Warren tore his ACL on the last play of Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Warren was placed on injured reserve, and will not return this season.
To replace Warren, the Steelers signed Jared Retkofsky. Hmmmm, this is starting to sound strangely familiar. As you may remember, the same thing happened last season. Warren got injured, and Retkofsky was signed to replace him.
At least the Steelers signed a replacement before James Harrison was forced into long snapper duties again. We all remember what happened last time Harrison did a long snap. According to NASA, the ball that he snapped is still in lunar orbit.
In a second move, the Steelers placed Limas Sweed on the reserve/non-football illness list (translation: they got rid of him because he sucks and Mike Wallace has made him obsolete).
To replace Sweed, the Steelers have signed Joey Galloway. Galloway started the season with the New England Patriots, but he never became a part of their wide receiver rotation, and the Patriots released him on October 20th.

I felt bad for Limas at first…but bottom line, if you can’t catch, you don’t need to be on the field. You said it best, Wallace has made him obsolete. Still, just like in Hard Knocks, I feel bad when someone is let go fm the team…But I feel better with a WIN!
1I feel bad for Limas to. I want him to work out and be a benefit to the team. They need to work with the kid during the off season and try to rebuild his confidence. He is to high of a draft pick to flush. Thank god Wallace has turned into a success.
2Limas needs to sign up for Rice’s off season program. Jerry knows the cure for Handsofstone Syndrome.
3Don’t feel sorry for him at all. The reason I’m not making millions of dollars in the NFL is because I can’t make the plays against the pros either.
4He needs to go somewhere and put in the work so when OTA’s roll around he can come in with confidence.
5In all seriousness I hope it really is because he sucks and he doesn’t have some illness. He’s a terrible player but I don’t wish ill on him personally.
6Did anyone see Tomlin’s remarks concerning Galloway?
He said, and I quote, “Hopefully he can give us a little energy and spirit, veteran leadership in a position that is somewhat depleted.”
Can anyone tell me where we lack energy, spirit, and veteran leadership in our WRs! Is there a more veteran, energetic and spirited WR than Hines Ward? Can you honestly say that Holmes lacks energy and spirit? Wallace, who as a rookie just ripped the job away from Sweed?
WRs are one of our bright spots for crying out loud.
Depleted?
Ward with a broken leg is still a better play than most WRs so I think he will play just fine with that hamstring injury (just like he did last year in the super bowl) and that little cut on Wallace’s leg should be just fine. And Holmes does not appear to be injured at all.
I get it. Galloway is a fine pick up. Great veteran. I get it. But if Tomlin is trying to pick up players to fill a glaring gap why don’t he start with the secondary or O-line?
This man is quickly getting on my nerves. You want energy and spirit then get a new kicker!
On a side note: I wonder if William Gay can punt. Because Sepulveda can certainly tackle.
